Refund & Cancellation Policy

Effective:
September 3, 2026
Last updated:

This page explains how YouTube Writer subscriptions are billed, how to cancel, exactly when a refund is available and when it is not, and the statutory rights that apply on top of this Policy. If something has gone wrong with a charge, contact us first — most billing problems are quick to fix.

1. Scope

This Refund and Cancellation Policy applies to all paid subscriptions to YouTube Writer (the "Service"). It forms part of our Terms of Service, and the definitions used there apply here.

In short: you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not give pro-rata refunds for the unused part of a period, but we do refund in the specific situations listed in Section 4, and we honour statutory rights where they apply.

2. How Billing Periods Work

Paid plans are recurring subscriptions billed in advance for each billing period, monthly unless a different period is stated at checkout. Your period begins on the date your subscription starts and renews automatically on the same day of each subsequent period.

Each period includes the generation quota for your plan, as described on our Pricing page. Quotas are allocated per calendar month, do not carry over, and are not refundable in whole or in part if unused.

Charges are applied by our payment processor to the payment method on your account. Prices exclude applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

3. How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time, and there is no cancellation fee. Choose whichever method suits you:

  1. Sign in, open your Account settings, and use Manage billing to open the billing portal, then cancel your subscription there.
  2. Or email support@youtubewriter.com from the address on your account, asking us to cancel. We will action it and confirm by reply.

What happens when you cancel

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep full access to your plan features and remaining quota until then.
  • No further charges are made after cancellation takes effect.
  • At the end of the period, your account reverts to the free plan. It is not deleted, and your saved scripts remain available subject to free plan limits.
  • Export anything you need that depends on a paid feature before the period ends, since export is a paid plan feature.

Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account. If you also want your account and data deleted, see Section 8.

4. When We Give Refunds

Because the Service delivers digital output immediately on use, subscription fees for a period that has begun are generally non-refundable. We will, however, refund in the following circumstances.

Refunds we give as a matter of policy

SituationWhat we do
A duplicate or double charge for the same periodFull refund of the duplicate charge.
You were charged after cancelling, or a cancellation we confirmed was not appliedFull refund of the charge that should not have been taken.
You were charged the wrong amount, or a price change was applied without the notice our Terms requireRefund of the difference, or of the whole charge where appropriate.
A sustained failure of the Service that prevented you from generating scripts for a material part of the period, and that we were unable to resolveA pro-rata credit or refund for the affected part of the period.
A charge you did not authorize, following our investigationFull refund, and we secure the account.
A free trial that converted to a paid plan even though you cancelled during the trialFull refund of the first charge.

The first 14 days

If you are within 14 days of your first paid charge on a new subscription, have not previously received a refund from us, and tell us the Service is not right for you, we will refund that charge in full on request. This applies once per customer and is offered in addition to the situations above and to any statutory right you may have.

Discretionary refunds

Outside these cases we may still issue a refund or account credit at our discretion, for example where there has been a genuine misunderstanding. Doing so once does not oblige us to do so again, and does not waive this Policy.

5. When We Do Not Give Refunds

Except where a statutory right or Section 4 applies, we do not refund:

  • the unused portion of a billing period after you cancel, because you retain access for the rest of that period;
  • periods that have already elapsed, including where you forgot to cancel before a renewal, beyond what Section 4 provides;
  • unused generation quota, or quota consumed on results you were not satisfied with;
  • dissatisfaction with the creative quality, accuracy, originality or performance of generated output, which is inherent to AI generation and covered by our Disclaimer;
  • a failure to achieve any particular result, including views, engagement, subscribers, ranking or revenue;
  • interruptions caused by a third-party platform, model provider, network or your own equipment, other than a sustained Service failure as described in Section 4;
  • accounts suspended or terminated for breach of our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy;
  • charges older than the period your card issuer or applicable law allows us to reverse.

6. Statutory Withdrawal and Consumer Rights

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or the UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason. For digital services, that right is lost once performance has begun with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you lose the right of withdrawal.

Where the Service begins immediately at your request, that consent is given at checkout. Even so, we will honour a withdrawal request made within 14 days of your first charge, subject to a deduction proportionate to the service already supplied where we are entitled to make one. To withdraw, email support@youtubewriter.com with a clear statement to that effect.

Other jurisdictions

Nothing in this Policy limits any non-waivable right you have under the consumer law of your place of residence, including any statutory guarantee, right of withdrawal or right to a remedy for a service not supplied as described. Where such a right conflicts with this Policy, the statutory right prevails.

7. How to Request a Refund

Email support@youtubewriter.com from the email address on your account and include:

  • the email address on your account;
  • the date and amount of the charge, or the invoice or receipt number;
  • a brief description of the reason for your request.

We aim to acknowledge refund requests within 2 business days and to decide within 10 business days. If we approve a refund, we issue it to the original payment method through our payment processor. It typically appears within 5 to 10 business days after we issue it, depending on your bank or card issuer, and we cannot speed that part up.

Refunds are made in the currency of the original charge. We are not responsible for any difference in value caused by exchange rate movements or for fees your bank may charge.

If we decline your request, we will explain why. You may ask us to review the decision by replying to our response, and a different member of our team will look at it.

8. Deleting Your Account

Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are two different things. Cancelling stops future charges; deleting removes your account and content.

You can delete your account from your account settings. Deleting an account does not by itself entitle you to a refund of fees already paid, and any refund is governed by this Policy. Cancel your subscription before deleting your account so that no further charge is attempted.

What happens to your data on deletion, and what we are required to retain, is explained in our Privacy Policy.

9. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us first at support@youtubewriter.com. We can usually resolve it faster than a bank dispute, and most issues turn out to be straightforward.

Raising a chargeback with your bank or card issuer without contacting us first may result in suspension or termination of your account while the dispute is investigated, and we may recover the disputed amount and any related fees to the extent permitted by law, as set out in our Terms of Service.

Where a chargeback is raised in bad faith after the Service has been supplied, we may decline to provide the Service to you in future. Nothing here prevents you from exercising a genuine right to dispute an unauthorized charge.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. The version in force when you were charged is the version that applies to that charge. Material changes will be notified as described in our Terms of Service, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
